We are excited to announce that beginning August 21st, we will be launching at our 2nd NY Wegmans - the Pittsford location. We will be hosting our first tasting at the Pittsford store this Sunday, August 23rd from 11am to 2pm. We will also be sampling at the Wegmans Canandaigua location on the 23rd.
A few weeks ago, while Danny Wegman was shopping at the Canandaigua store, he stopped by our tasting station, tried the Peach White Zinfandel and put 2 pints in his shopping cart. I hope if you are near either of these locations you will come experience Mercer's Wine Ice Cream. I worked at that Dairy Plant from 1972 to 1978. The founder, Earl Mercer, and my Dad were the same age, born on the same date, whose business paths had crossed many years earlier. My Dad went to work for Earl Mercer back in 1971. I don't know what it is about that ice cream, but it is truly the finest ice cream I've ever had in my life. Living in California since 1979, I've never tasted any ice cream as fine as Mercer's. I look forward to my vacation back to the Barneveld/Boonville/Oneida Lake areas this summer and can't wait to stop by the soft serve shop at the plant. I hope it's still there!
